A Personal Review of The Future of Us!

"I loved The Future of Us. It was fun and hilarious to read about the 1990s and the fact characters of the book made comments like "what's a blog" and "Oh my god i have computer in my car!" when seeing the future. The book made me laugh out loud at times. The ending was a bit lame but I'm generally a lover of happy endings and I can't imagine the book ending without the two main characters ending up together! Having said that, my friend let her 13 year old daughter read it. I think this is totally inappropriate! The book has references to teenage pregnancy (Emma discovered on Facebook that her best friend Kellan got pregnant at 16!, mature relationships (the scene between Emma and her first boyfriend - I forget his name - on the park bench, and homosexuality (Josh discovers his brother is gay on Facebook). Thirteen year old kids are not ready and mature enough to read and understand these kind of issues. This book should be restricted to older teens (16+).

I think that a opposite gender friendship is good and bad. But you shouldn't be best friends because sometimes it gets really awkward when your talking to them. Sometimes if you want to ruin your friendnship if one person likes you and you only like them as a friend.

Friendship with opposite gender

Josh, Emma, Tyson and Kellan are good friends. Do you think teenage guys and girls can truly be just friends? What are the good and bad things about having a friend of the opposite gender?
In this discussion I would like you to post your own opinion and also read and comment on another student's opinion.
